Cedar Lake Cemetery

Cedar Lake Cemetery- A Peaceful Place of Rest.

About Us

The Cedar Lake Cemetery is located in the town of Litchfield in the state of New York.  It was originally a private cemetery for the Goodier family.  It is located on Goodier Road.  Reverend Aaron Goodier was the first to form a settlement in the Town of Litchfield which is know today as Cedar Lake.  On part of the Goodier Lands, the Goodier family established this cemetery prior to 1810.  The cemetery is a well kept cemetery and is still being used.  It was enlarged to meet the needs of the community.  On the gravestones you will find such names as the Goodier decendents of Rev. Aaron Goodier, Carren, Catlin, Cole, Congdon, Currier, Garlick, Goodale, Hadley, Miller, Munn, Nunn, Prior, Rider, Rising, Salisbury, Titus, Townsend, Washburn, Wilcox and others.  Many are the graves of infants and children.  One grave is that of Francis Carren, a Civil War soldier.  He died June 1863 after being wounded in the Battle of Chancellorsville.  The Cedar Lake Cemetery Association is a non-profit community association formed in 1893 by relatives and descendents of local resident who have been interred in the cemetery.
